Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers drive our work, supporting thousands of LGBTQQ survivors each year and educating thousands of young people and educators about LGBTQQ lives. We are always looking for new volunteers looking to join our work. Below are our main volunteer opportunities:

24-hour Crisis Line: CUAV holds 48-hour trainings in the fall and the spring to train new volunteer advocates to staff our 24-hour crisis line for LGBTQQ survivors of violence and trauma. Volunteers are trained in effective listening and counseling skills, anti-oppression issues, safety planning, and somatic healing techniques, among other issues. Download more information, a volunteer application, or contact javy@cuav.org to find out more.

Grassroots Fundraising: CUAV understands that the only way for our work to be truly sustainable and accountable to our communities, it must be funded by our communities. We are always looking for volunteers to help build our grassroots fundraising program, with event planning, individual donor campaigns, and other community fundraising projects. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact morgan@cuav.org.

Speakers Bureau: CUAV holds 2-5 16-hour trainings annually to train new volunteers to join our Speakers Bureau to speak with young people in the San Francisco Bay Area about LGBTQQ issues. Volunteers are trained in public speaking, anti-oppression issues, LGBTQQ youth and family issues, among other topics. Download the application, or contact connie@cuav.org for more information.

Office Support: We are always looking for volunteers to help out with administrative and organizational tasks around our office. If you are interested in helping out, please contact liuhoiman@cuav.org.
