CUAV Promotes Dominique Cowling and Kyle Neil

At CUAV we are excited to celebrate our 40th anniversary as your LGBTQI Anti-violence organization working to transform cycles of violence and abuse into skills toward healing and resiliency, and movement toward social justice and culture change. And what better way to celebrate this exciting milestone than by announcing that two of our staff have been promoted into new leadership roles at CUAV!

Please help us congratulate and appreciate Dominique Cowling (she/her) and Kyle Neil (he/they) as they embark on their new roles in management positions.

Dominique Cowling

After a year as our Peer Advocate, Dominique has been promoted to Healing Justice Program Manager. Dominique will continue providing peer counseling and advocacy to survivors, while expanding and leading this program’s vision and planning.

She will be creating and cultivating workshops and trainings that center the healing of our LGBTQ survivors and our communities with exciting tools such as mindfulness, yoga, and cultural practices she brings with expertise.

Dominique is a Bay Area native that is deeply passionate about sharing holistic education and liberating expression to queer + Trans communities of color with an academic background in psychology, she believes providing trauma-informed tools for emotional and mental healing are critical in all social movements.

She is especially interested in the intersections of healing, justice, and liberation for BIPOC [BLACK, indigenous, people of color] and those that identify as LGBTQI+.

Kyle Neil

Kyle has been in the role of Wellness Organizer at CUAV since 2018, and previously as a CUAV intern the summer of 2014. Kyle now moves into the Position of SAF-T (Survivors Advocating for Freedom today) Program Manager.

While continuing to support survivors through peer counseling and advocacy, in their new role Kyle will now manage member leadership recruitment and development including political development, as well as coalition work and organizing with our members and community allies.

Kyle (They/Them, He/His) was born in Montreal, Quebec and has been in the SF Bay Area since 2013. They hold a BA in African and African American Studies from Stanford University. For the past five years, their movement work has been involved in prison abolition and liberation for black, queer and Trans communities.
